NO SEA BENEATH US

For my _____

I Love you.

Lost Ship

The dark mists of the past fell away once more, leaving the two lost souls standing together in chill, clinging gray fog.

"I begin to like this less and less, you must work this ship so as to take us straight back home." She demands with a shake in her voice.

"A moment, my lady" he replied, striding a few steps across the dark planks underfoot. A drift of mist swallowed him, and his lady had to run to keep him from entirely disappearing from view.

She found him standing at a low, stout wooden rail, of strangely fluted, ornate design of a ship's rail. He was peering over the edge, crouching low to guard against overbalancing and falling away yet again-- though the ship seemed rock-steady beneath them ö he held on rather tightly as if he would lose himself into the cold darkness again.

"Where are we?" his lady demanded, rubbing her shoulder against his in the unspoken signal that she wanted him to put a comforting arm around her. He obliged, embracing her once again with a comforting feeling of a lost soul coming home forever. "A ship, so much is obvious, but I feel no sea beneath us, hear no waves -- smell no waves!" she udders in disbelief.

"It would be a surprise if you did, my lady" he replied, pointing at a sudden gap in the fog, that opened on a glimpse of treetops, "You have forgotten that feeling already, being as we are sailing on air. "
