THE BEAUTY OF A FIRST GLANCE


Dear Boy,

Based solely on the 15 seconds in which our lives crossed paths earlier today, I know that you...

1) are around my age (early 20's)
2) appear to be somewhat shy or softspoken
3) have a beautiful mess of curly brown hair
4) possess an enchanting smile
5) are roughly five feet and ten inches tall
6) have a nervous laugh
7) may or may not have facial hair (this is where my memory fails me, but I hope you do)
8) make at least occasional use of the college library
9) attend the same institution as I do, and so must also value education
10) are the sort of guy who will chase a stranger out of an academic building because she dropped her keys.

By the time my tongue finished stammering its surprised thanks and I realized you were actually making my heart pound quite rapidly, you'd disappeared into a sea of reference books.

Were I more assertive, I might have gone chasing after you to ask for a name and number or something, but I'm kind of shy myself.
