AND THE WEIGHT YOU GAINED IN COLLEGE

Dear Me,

This is my attempt to cheer you/myself up and avoid making an appointment with the college counselor. It seems narcissistic, but you're supposed to know me better than anyone, and therefore I'm sure you know it's not. So why do I love you?

I love you because of the fact that you got that slightly too-wide red shirt you're proudly wearing right now for only eight dollars.

I love you because you miss your parents and brother and dog so much and you didn't think you would.

I love you because you're pretty attractive, even with the never-ending little eruptions on your chin and the weight you've gained in college that's showing up in funny little jowls and a strange, flaccid bump on your once-flat belly.

I love you because you can't help being cynical most of the time, and yet you think of yourself as a cheerful Midwesterner.

I love you because you think the weirdest thoughts about one of your T.A.s.

I love you because you're a real hypochondriac, but seriously, I think you might be bipolar.

I love you because you can't stand most of the people that you know.

I love you because you love the few that you like.

I love you because you think you're going to die alone (and you might be right. I wish there was something I could do to help.).

Love,

Me
